Changes to the Weekend Schedule of Masses

Church of the Holy Family    Our Lady of Perpetual  Succour

Dunblane — Auchterarder

January 2021

Changes to the Weekend Schedule of Masses

Dear Parishioner : We have an obligation in the present crisis , as you well know, to keep our distance—one of which is travelling in a car with a person  from a different household

Since I fell,   I have been doing  just that when travelling up and down to Auchterarder and I am very  grateful to those who  were kind enough to drive me. This is not best practice  anymore with the virus more  rampant than ever.

The  main problem is Sunday   morning and the  rush between finishing Mass in Auchterarder at 10.30 a.m.,  and getting back  in  time for the Mass in Dunblane at 11 a.m.     I also find  the double journey challenging, taken in conjunction with  the celebration of the two Masses.

Having consulted  with the  Bishop,  and with his approval, I intend making the following  changes to the weekend schedule. The total  number of  weekend Masses celebrated and the  weekday schedule  in both parishes will remain unchanged .  The booking  system must  also be kept for the foreseeable future.

Holy Family, Dunblane : Vigil Mass on Saturday at 12 noon; Sunday : Mass at 11.30 a.m.

Our Lady’s, Auchterarder : Vigil  Mass on Saturday at 5 pm;  Sunday Mass at 9.30 a.m.

This will  enable me to  spend  Saturday night in the parish house in  Auchterarder and  avoid  the rather  hectic double   journey on Sunday morning.

These changes will come into effect on the weekend of January 16/17,  2021.

I hope people will  understand the need for these changes,  and that they will not  find them too inconvenient.  In many ways, given the circumstances,  the schedule  is a more sensible  one.

Can I take this opportunity to thank all those who have made possible the continuing  celebration of Mass in difficult circumstances :  stewards , people in  charge  of the booking system, sanitisers and all parishioners, upfront and behind the scenes, who   have been so patient and accommodating.

May you , and your loved ones, enjoy a multitude of Graces and Blessings,  Health and Happiness in 2021.

May the Lord keep all of us safe  from the current epidemic.

God Bless

Monsignor Basil
